Allan Saint-Maximin could be the favorite on Tyneside but Newcastle are ‘willing’ to sell him. This, in addition to the reason why the transfer of Memphis Depay to Juventus poses a danger to Chelsea.
OPEN STREETS IN SAINT-MAXIMIN SALE
Newcastle’s pursuit of a “top-class” striker means they are “willing” to sell top-flight striker Allan Saint-Maximin, according to the not-so-reliable Football Insider.
Perhaps the Magpies hierarchy are looking to balance the books a bit as they struggle to spend due to financial fair play and all the players in their squad who are worth a decent amount have either just joined the club or are called Allan.
If Newcastle “land one of their top targets”, Eddie Howe may let the French winger leave, with the Geordies in the market for “one, possibly two” new attackers.
Saint-Maximin is a tricky player who gets fans off their seats, but his end product is seen as a problem as he hasn’t scored in the Premier League since January.
£40m will be enough for Newcastle to sell, but who are they currently in the market for?
They are said to be ‘leading the race’ for Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos and are also interested in Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak.
NDOMBELE NEAR SPURS EXIT
Tottenham’s transfer business has been excellent this summer, with Clement Lenglet, Djed Spence, Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison all in, but Antonio Conte is focused on removing some of the dead wood.
Conte wants to get rid of Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks. and the Lo Celso exit is nearbywhile Ndombele has admirers.
Napoli are a club interested in signing the French midfielder, who cost Spurs around £65m in 2019 and has been a huge failure.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed the Italian club have reached an agreement with Spurs to sign Ndombele on loan for the season.
The deal is close to being finalized and will include an option to buy, which is excellent news for Conte and Spurs.
Napoli are now working on personal terms with the 25-year-old, with Fabian Ruiz reportedly set for a move to Paris Saint-Germain, with Keylor Navas linked with a move the other way.
MEMPHIS TO JUVENTUS = BAD FOR CHELSEA
There is interest in both Memphis Depay and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with reports suggesting Barcelona are unwilling to sell both players, but would love to see one of them leave this summer.
Aubameyang has been linked with Chelsea as the Blues look for some attacking reinforcements, while Juventus want to sign Memphis.
The latter is expected to leave for free on a one-year contract, meanwhile, Barcelona wants up to 25 million euros for Aubameyangthat Chelsea are certainly not willing to pay for a 33-year-old player with a history of minor offences.
Seconds World Sports journalist Ferran Martínez, Juventus is ‘very close’ to reaching a full agreement for the signing of Depay.
It’s not great news for Chelsea, who were hoping to land Aubameyang for no more than €13 million.
Martínez believes that Barca will only listen to a “big offer” for the former Arsenal captain, and Depay’s departure will make his sale unnecessary.
That said, this is FC Barcelona, and if they’re offered a few quid, they’ll probably sell out and sell Aubameyang.
Chelsea are in dire need of attacking reinforcements after selling Timo Werner and loaning Romelu Lukaku, but will around £20m be splashed out to sign Aubameyang? Who knows…
FUN’S OVER, GEM
Staying with Barcelona; have registered all but one of their non-registered players ahead of their first league game this weekend.
They have been bailed out by yet another financial lever as their strange transfer window continues.
While the prospect of their summer signings not being able to play for their new club was a pretty funny thought, I think everyone knew that wasn’t going to happen.
Ousmane Dembele and Sergi Roberto, who signed new contracts this summer, have signed up, as have new signings Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie.
The only player left out in the cold? Jules Kounde.
✅ Robert Lewandowski
✅ Franck Kessie
✅ Andreas Christensen
❌ Jules Koundé
Barcelona has registered these players, but the Spanish team has not been able to register Jules Kounde.
To register Koundé, Barça will have to free up space in their salary package. pic.twitter.com/56xsXxlxXs
