Antonio Conte has hit out at Thomas Tuchel on social media, insisting he wishes he could have tripped him up after a London derby.
Conte’s Tottenham were held to a 2-2 draw against Tuchel’s Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday amid on-pitch controversy and brawls.
Tuchel ran past the Spurs bench in ecstasy after Reece James made it 2-1 to the Blues, and the Italian later admitted – perhaps slightly tongue in cheek – in a cheeky Instagram post that Tuchel be “lucky” Conte didn’t see him do it. so

Conte posted ‘It would have been well deserved to trip you up’ at Tuchel after the German ran past him celebrating Reece James’ goal – Conte’s Spurs held on for a late 2-2 draw.
Her Instagram post at around 11.30pm BST on Sunday night read: “Unfortunately I didn’t see you… giving you a ride would have been well deserved…” followed by three crying emojis laughing
Conte’s post remains on his account, which has just under 900,000 followers, in an unusual move as managers and players are not usually so openly truculent with their rivals on social media.
Both bosses were sent off by referee Anthony Taylor after the game, with Tuchel grabbing Conte’s arm as they shook hands, before pulling him towards him to protest Conte’s apparent disrespect which he refused to look into each other’s eyes – Conte, for his part, asked his opposite number: ‘what do you want?’
Six years after the original Battle of the Bridge, war broke out again between Chelsea and Tottenham in an explosive clash, with both managers starring and both having to be penalized on the touchline after receiving straight red cards.
Conte and Tuchel encouraged each other with their goal celebrations in the second half before going at each other while shaking hands, sparking an ugly mass confrontation involving players, officials and security staff ‘both clubs in an incredible finish.
Moments after Harry Kane equalized for Spurs with a stoppage-time header, a fired-up Conte also clashed with Chelsea substitute Cesar Azpilicueta and midfielder Mateo Kovacic, who was injured and not in the squad , as he headed towards the tunnel.
Tuchel first complained about a possible foul on Kai Havertz in the build-up to the tie.
Tuchel headed past Conte, who had his head in his hands, after Reece James scored minutes later, prompting Conte to later take to social media to say the German was “lucky” to Conte did not see him.
But Taylor, public enemy No. 1 because of his history of angering Chelsea with his decisions, was also in Tuchel’s sights.
Taylor decided to ignore Kai Havertz’s appeal for a foul after a challenge from Rodrigo Bentancur led to Spurs’ first equaliser, Conte’s exuberant celebration lit the blue paper and was one of several incidents that leave Tuchel furious.
The referees also overlooked Richarlison’s offside when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg equalised, Cristian Romero’s hair-pulling of Marc Cucurella before Kane’s equalizer and, according to Tuchel, a series of tactical fouls by Hojbjerg and Bentancur while Reece James received a booking.
Taylor has issued more yellow cards per game to Chelsea players than any other team, showing red cards to Reece James and Kovacic, while Harry Maguire’s stamp on Michy Batshuayi was among a number of incidents that the Blues they think he has ignored. .
Tuchel said: “Today? Yes [I have more of a problem with the referee]. Maybe that would be better [if he does not referee another Chelsea game]. I do not think so [only] some of the fans think so [Taylor has made bad decisions against Chelsea].
“I can assure you that the whole dressing room, every person thinks about it. The players know what is happening and they are on the pitch. Of course [they are worried when he takes charge of one of our games].
Both coaches took physicals again after the full-time whistle, and both were sent off
The two clashed once more, with things even more physical than before
A hand-to-hand fight followed and the two coaches will not have to serve a suspension in the next few games
Harry Kane scored a last-minute equalizer for Tottenham after twice missing
‘Both of us [Spurs] the goals should not be kept and then it is a fair result. I can’t train but the referee can whistle the next game. well
Although they could be in more hot water if the FA feel their behavior or comments warrant further punishment. There could also be repercussions for both clubs.
On Conte’s confrontation, Tuchel said: ‘I don’t have one [bad feelings] and I’m sure he won’t have any. We both fought for our teams. The two dugouts are very close, so it got a little heated. No one has been insulted, no one has been hurt. We haven’t had a punch fight. So for me it’s not a big deal.’
Conte said: “The referee showed me a red card but he didn’t understand the dynamics of what happened, but it’s good that I have to accept. There is a video to understand what happened. I’m certainly not passive. If I see aggression, then my response is with aggression, but I repeat that this is not a problem.
‘To enjoy, I think we liked what happened, but next time we will pay more attention and not shake hands and solve the problem.
“He stays on my bench, I on my bench, with the staff on one side and no problem with that. It would be a shame if because of this situation we miss the next match”.
