Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte were the only two Premier League managers to miss the top flight’s pre-season briefing by the refereeing body – the Professional Match Officials (PGMOL).

The Telegraph reports that the Chelsea and Tottenham bosses, who were sent off during their teams’ ill-tempered draw at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, did not attend any of the meetings organized by the Premier League.

The summer meetings are held so managers can learn about law changes or rules that the umpires will be focusing on in the upcoming campaign.

There are two identical briefings, one in the north and one in London, but they didn’t attend either.

It is claimed that Conte was ill on the date of the London meeting, but neither manager sent anyone in his place.

Tuchel is believed to have attended a PGMOL briefing for Chelsea players, something every team receives before the start of the season.

Tuchel and Conte clashed with each other during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Chelsea manager Tuchel was left livid by some of the decisions made by referee Anthony Taylor.

Kai Havertz’s foul appeal was dismissed by Taylor after a challenge from Rodrigo Bentancur in the build-up to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s equaliser.

The officials also ignored that Richarlison was in an offside position when Hojbjerg scored.

Before Harry Kane’s late equaliser, Tottenham defender Cristian Romero pulled Marc Cucurella’s hair out, but he too was not penalised.

Tuchel and Conte were sent off by Taylor after the final whistle and there was a tense exchange between the pair as they went to shake hands at the end of the game.

Tuchel celebrated strongly after Reece James had made it 2-1 at Chelsea, with the German having previously clashed with Conte.

The Football Association is now investigating Tuchel’s post-match comments about Taylor.

Tuchel said: “Today? Yes [I have more of a problem with the referee].

‘Maybe that would be better [if he does not referee another Chelsea game]. I do not think so [only] some of the fans think so [Taylor has made bad decisions against Chelsea].

“I can assure you that the whole dressing room, every person thinks about it. The players know what is happening and they are on the pitch. Of course [they are worried when he takes charge of one of our games].

‘Both of us [Spurs] the goals should not be kept and then it is a fair result. I can’t train but the referee can whistle the next game. well
